About Splash
The Penllergaer Splash Appeal was launched in September 2005 with the aim of raising £1,000,000 to build a hydrotherapy pool within the grounds of Penllergaer Primary School, an integrated school with two units for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
The school offers good sensory resources for the children with the extra added benefit of on tap integration which they benefit
from enormously.
The children, some of whom have cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities, need regular access to a hydrotherapy pool to help
them build up their muscles. Use of a pool also aids independent activity, as the buoyancy of the water enables the children to float or swim with aids.
Currently the children have use of a pool in the local special school, however the facility is in great demand and heavily over subscribed,
which means access is very limited.

| Hydrotherapy pools are wonderful facilities and the children, staff, governors and parents of the school have taken on the challenge of
raising £1,000,000 to build a facility, in the school grounds, which will serve not only the school but other community based organisations.
We believe this is a realistic aim, but we urgently need your support to help us achieve our ambitious target.
You can get involved in Splash in a number of ways:
- Take part in our organised events
- Support our events by donating auction or raffle prizes
- Organise your own fundraising activity
- Provide valuable services to support the design and build of the pool
- Make a donation - online facilities will soon be available
Help us make a million...and make a difference!
