New Wave of Support Boosts Splash Fundraising

The teams at South West Wales radio favourites, The Wave and Swansea Sound, have pledged support for the Penllergaer Splash Appeal

Staff and management at the station are now working alongside volunteers at the charity to develop and deliver some unique fundraising opportunities to help Splash achieve its initial target of £250,000.

Carrie Mosley, Station Director, confirmed that the charity would be a beneficiary of the 2009 Cash4Kids Appeal, receiving funds from both the auction at the Annual Cash4Kids Ball and the weekend Cash4Kids phone in.

“We’re really excited at having the opportunity to support this local project and believe we can add real value to the efforts of the enthusiastic volunteers already working to raising funds for this much needed facility.

We linked the charity in to our Cappuccino Girls Flashmob in Castle Square and then took all the Flashmob partners, Mal Pope, Mark Jermin and his students, up to Penllergaer Primary School to meet the special needs pupils that will benefit from the pool. Kevin Johns came along to conduct the school assembly and we recreated the Flashmob for the whole school to see – we even got pupils and staff to join in…it was quite an event! Mal has now confirmed that the song “Cappuccino Girls”, performed by Swansea’s own Bonnie Tyler, will soon be available as a download and Splash will receive a donation from every single download worldwide.

We’re also linking the charity up with local business keen to support local projects and can confirm that Splash will be the sole beneficiary of the launch party to celebrate the opening of Peter Way’s new 290-cover Penthouse Restaurant, sited at the top of the £100 million Meridian Quay tower development. Anyone who'd like to attend the Launch Party should contact The Wave directly on 01792 511964 or Swansea Sound on 01792 511170. Tickets are priced at £50 with all proceeds going to Splash.”
